ALDI SUISSE: Fink und Bürgi

BACKGROUND

ALDI SUISSE is part of the Aldi Süd group. After Migros, Coop, Denner and Manor, it is the fifth-largest retailer in Switzerland and employs around 3,000 people. ALDI SUISSE aims to offer customers only products that deliver the greatest possible benefit and to leave out everything that is not essential. This saves costs and is reflected in permanently low prices.

EXECUTION

We convinced ALDI SUISSE of the benefits of online video advertising, and of YouTube’s potential in particular. We showed them the detailed tracking options for proving performance as well as the strong targeting and control options. Another advantage of YouTube: advertisers can increase advertising pressure at times when people watch less TV, for example during the day before they go shopping. When adapting the video spots, we added individual promotional spots for specific products or regions to complement the branding videos.

RESULTS

We succeeded in delivering the videos to a very large audience, and in a highly focused way to the ALDI SUISSE core target audience in particular. At the same time, we kept the cost per view exceptionally low compared with other channels. Contact frequency was also ideally managed and aligned with specific times. As a welcome side effect, the YouTube campaigns won new subscribers as well as new fans for the ALDI SUISSE Facebook page.
